The Harary index or reciprocal distance sum index of a graph was introduced in the year 1991. The main purpose of this book is to survey the main concepts and results related to the Harary index of a graph. This book is organized in six chapters. The first of them, under the title, Introduction, contains the basic and significant terms, concepts, results, and techniques related to the Harary index. The second chapter gives some extremal results on general graphs and on trees with respect to the Harary index. The third chapter gives the relation between the Harary index with reciprocal Wiener index and Zagreb indices and the fourth chapter gives some standard properties and applications of the Harary index in pure graph theory, mathematical chemistry and the quantitative structure-property modeling. Chapters five and six give some properties of additively weighted Harary index, determining the minimal Harary index and some open problems. Each of these chapters end up with a list of references including books, surveys and the most significant papers related to the topic. This book is a gift for the budding researchers related to the subjects mathematics, chemistry and biological sciences.
