In ``Congruences in partial abelian semigroups'' [Algebra Univers. 37, No. 1, 119-140 (1997; Zbl 0902.08008)], the author proved a theorem on a decomposition of a partial abelian semigroup (PAS for short) with respect to a certain central ideal. However it is not always true, even in a positive cancellative PAS. This discrepancy can be removed by a small change in the definition of a central ideal, which is presented in this paper.
