Crossed modules were introduced by \textit{J. H. C. Whitehead} [Bull. Am. Math. Soc. 55, 453--496 (1949; Zbl 0040.38801)] in order to extend to higher dimensions the methods of combinatorial groups. Using the pullback and pushout functors, \textit{R. Brown} and \textit{C. D. Wensley} [Theory Appl. Categ. 1, 54--71 (1995; Zbl 0849.55017)] and \textit{F. J. Korkes} and \textit{T. Porter} [``Profinite crossed modules'', Preprint No. 86.11, Bangor: University Wales] defined and studied the pullback and pushout crossed modules, respectively. Then the two last authors of the paper under review, in [Sci. Bull., Ser. A, Appl. Math. Phys., Politeh. Univ. Buchar. 77, No. 2, 129--140 (2015; Zbl 1349.13038); Proc. Indian Acad. Sci., Math. Sci. 125, No. 1, 11--20 (2015; Zbl 1317.18003)], extended the notion crossed polymodule of polygroups from classical algebra to the theory of hyperstructures, in particular to pullback and pushout crossed polymodules that are constructed from polygroups, a particular type of hypergroups which was first defined by \textit{S. D. Comer} [J. Algebra 89, 397--405 (1984; Zbl 0543.20059)]. In this paper, the authors first define the notions of \(2\)-crossed polymodule of polygroups, and pullback and pushout \(2\)-crossed polymodules. Then they give the construction of pullback and pushout in this setting.
