Lie groups and Lie algebras (Q6141392)

The book is designed to serve as a standard textbook for a graduate course on Lie groups and Lie algebras. The aim is to provide background material on real, complex and \(p\)-adic Lie groups. The author first summarizes some background information on linear algebra, topology, analytic functions and analytic manifolds in the first three chapters. After that, he deals with Lie groups and Lie algebras in the second half of the book. In particular, he focuses on theorems of Cartan and Lie on Lie groups as well as the theorems of Engel, Lie and Cartan on Lie algebras. The book can be read by an interested advanced undergraduate student, who wants to learn about Lie groups and Lie algebras, also as supplementary reading material for an advanced undergraduate or a graduate course.
