Vishik defined an equivalence relation on quadratic forms over a given field in the following way: \(\varphi\) is equivalent to \(\psi\) if their dimensions are the same and their Witt indexes remain the same under any field extension. He also proved that this coincides with motivic equivalence. There was a big question about whether Vishik's equivalence coincides with similarity, and apparently it depends on the parity of the dimension of the forms under discussion.\N\NThe goal of this paper is to alter the definition a little to make it suitable to \(p\)-forms over fields of characteristic \(p\) (diagonal forms of degree \(p\) over such fields): the author simply replaces with Witt index with the defect. The author's main result is that in certain cases, Vishik's equivalence (in its new form) does coincide with similarity.
