Let \(X\) and \(Y\) be locally compact Hausdorff spaces, \(E\) be a Banach space and \(F\) be a strictly convex Banach space (that is every norm 1 element of \(F\) is an extreme point of the closed unit ball of \(F\)) and \(C_0(X, E)\) and \(C_0(X, F)\) be the Banach spaces of continuous respectively \(E\)-valued and \(F\)-valued functions defined on \(X\) and \(Y\) which vanish at infinity. It is shown that for each linear isometry \(T\) from \(C_0(X, E)\) into \(C_0(X, F)\) there exist a continuous function \(\phi\) from a subset \(Y_1\) of \(Y\) onto \(X\) and a continuous map \(h\) from \(Y_1\) into \(B(E, F)\) (the space of bounded linear operators from \(E\) into \(F\) equipped with the strong operator topology) such that \[ Tf(y)= h(y)(f(\phi(y))) \] for each \(y\in Y_1\) and \(f\in C_0(X, E)\) and \[ |T(f)|= |f|= \sup_{y\in Y_1} |Tf(y)|. \]
