A constitutive equation involving six material constants is developed for the high temperature deformation of metals. Both drag stress and back stress are considered. As an application of this evolution equation, it is shown that the corresponding model describes adequately the stress-strain behaviour of a 617 nickel-base superalloy over three different orders of strain rate and up to \(900^\circ\)C. Cyclic hardening, strain-ratcheting and creep are also considered.
