In the paper under review, two subgroups \(H\) and \(K\) with the same order of a group are called weakly commuting provided there exists a bijection \(f\colon H\to K\) such that \(1^f=1\) and \(h^fh=hh^f\) for all \(h\in H\). The following conjecture is stated. Conjecture. Every group generated by two finite nilpotent weakly commuting subgroups is nilpotent. The authors prove some results to support this conjecture for groups generated by two finite Abelian weakly commuting subgroups. For instance, Theorem 3. Let \(G\) be a group generated by two finite Abelian weakly commuting subgroups of the same order \(n\). Then the metabelian quotient group \(G/G''\) is nilpotent of class at most \(n\).
