    Applying the discrete analogy of the comparison principle introduced by \textit{V. A. Staikos} and \textit{Y. G. Sficas} [J. Differ. Equations 12, 426- 437 (1972; Zbl 0247.34076)] the authors give many sufficient conditions under which all or all bounded solutions of difference equations of the forms \(\Delta^ 2u_ n+f(n,u_ n,\Delta u_ n)=0,\Delta^ 2u_ n+p_ nf(n,u_ n,\Delta u_ n)=0,\Delta^ 2u_ n+p_ nf(u_ n,\Delta u_ n)=0,\) (n\(\in N)\) are oscillatory. For other results relating to oscillatory behavior of solutions of second order difference equations see e.g. \textit{L. H. Erbe} and \textit{B. G. Zhang} [Chin. J. Math. 16, 239-252 (1988; Zbl 0692.39001)], \textit{J. W. Hooker} and \textit{W. T. Patula} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 91, 9-29 (1983; Zbl 0508.39005)], the reviewer [ibid. 123, 34-38 (1987; Zbl 0612.39002)], the first author [Fasc. Math. 14, 91-99 (1985; Zbl 0572.39002)], and the second author [Ann. Pol. Math. 43, 225-235 (1983; Zbl 0597.39001)].
