The authors consider the following periodic problem \[ x''(t)=g(t,x(t),x'(t))\quad \text{{a.e.}}\quad t\in (a,b), \] \[ x(a)=x(b),\quad x'(a)=x'(b), \] where \(g:[0,1]\times\mathbb{R}^2\to\mathbb{R}\) is a \(L^1\)-Carathéodory function. The unique solution is obtained by constructing an auxiliary periodic system with bounded solutions and proving these bounds to be equal, in which case they are the expected unique solution.
