Corrected nonlinear Uzawa algorithm for solving stabilized saddle point problems is proposed and the convergence rate is analyzed. It is shown that the new algorithm converges to the exact solution under sufficient conditions which are less restrective than those stated for the plane nonlinear Uzawa method [cf. \textit{Z.-H. Cao}, Appl. Numer. Math, 46, 157--171 (2003; Zbl 1032.65029)]. Numerical experiments show that the corrected method needs less iterations and has more smooth convergence curves than the plane method when they are applied to Stokes equations discretized by mixed finite elements.
