Let \((X, \rho, \mu)\) be a locally compact metric space, \((X, \rho)\) furnished with a doubling measure \(\mu\). Let \(L\) be a non-negative self-adjoint operator in \(L_2 (X, \rho, \mu)\). Then \(D = \bigcap_{m \in \mathbb N_0} D(L^m)\) is the related space of test functions and \(D'\) its dual (the space of related distributions). Under some conditions on \(L\), expressed in terms of the semi-group \(e^{-tL}\) (requested Gaussian bounds of related heat kernels), the author introduces spaces \(B^s_{p,q}\) and \(F^s_{p,q}\) parallel to the classical spaces on \(\mathbb R^n\) with \(L= - \Delta\), \(s\in \mathbb R\), \(0<p,q \leq \infty\) (\(p<\infty\) for \(F\)-spaces). It is the main aim of the paper to study these spaces, including atomic decompositions.
