Let \(\mu_{\beta,h}\) \((\beta <\beta_ c\), \(h\in {\mathbb{R}})\) be the unique Gibbs state for the 2-dimensional Ising model with external field h. For \(\epsilon =+\) and \(\epsilon =-\), denote by \(C^{\epsilon}_ x=C^{\epsilon}_ x(\omega)\) the maximal connected component of \(\{y\in {\mathbb{Z}}^ 2:\omega (y)=+1\}\) containing the point x, where \(\omega \in \{+1,-1\}^{{\mathbb{Z}}^ 2}\). The graph is determined by the nearest neighbors by means of max \(\{| x^ 1-y^ 1|,| x^ 2-y^ 2| \}=1.\) The author studies the problem: for each \(\beta <\beta_ c\), there is a positive \(h_ c(\beta)\) such that \(\mu_{\beta,h}(\#C^{\epsilon}_ 0=\infty)>0\) for both \(\epsilon =+\) and \(\epsilon =-\) and for all \(| h| <h_ c(\beta)\). If \(\beta\) is sufficiently small, the result was obtained by the author earlier [see Probability theory and applications, Proc. World Congr. Bernoulli Soc. Tashkent/USSR 1986, Vol. 1, 363-365 (1987; Zbl 0682.60097)]. This paper contains a more complete answer concerning a Russo-Seymour-Welsh type theorem.
