The thermodynamics formalism (in the sense of Ruelle) allows to express key properties of chaotic dynamical systems in terms of a dynamical Gibbs ensemble. The authors propose an adaptation of this construction to continuous time Markov processes and illustrate their approach in a variety of models, such as the kinetic Ising model, exclusion and contact processes.
