Spectral Analysis of Differential Operators of Mixed Order

From MaRDI portal

The purpose of this note is to study the spectral properties of the scattering theory for selfadjoint operator matrices of the form \[ H= \begin{pmatrix} -\Delta+q & -\nabla b+ v\\ \overline b\text{ div}+ v^* & h\end{pmatrix} \] in the product of Hilbert spaces \({\mathcal H}= (L_2(\mathbb{R}^n))^n\times L^2(\mathbb{R}^n)\) \((n\geq 1)\). Here \(q\) is an \(n\times n\) Hermitian matrix valued function, \(b\) is a complex function, \(v\) is an \(n\times 1\) matrix valued function, \(h\) is a real function. We shall assume that the functions \(q\), \(b\), \(v\) are bounded and \(b\), \(h\) are of class \(C^1\). Under these assumptions \(H\) is essentially selfadjoint on \((C^\infty_0(\mathbb{R}^n))^n\times C^\infty_0(\mathbb{R}^n)\).
