Stability analysis of linear impulsive differential systems under structural perturbation

From MaRDI portal

The authors consider the linear large scale impulsive system separated into \(s\) subsystems \[ \dot{\mathbf{x}}_i=A_i \mathbf{x}_i+ \sum_{j=1}^{s}S_{ij}(t)A_{ij}\text\textbf{x}_j,\;t\neq\tau_k(\text\textbf{x}), \] \[ \Delta \mathbf{x}_i=J_{ki}\text\textbf{x}_i+ \sum_{j=1,\;j\neq i}^{s}J_{kij}\text\textbf{x}_j,\;t=\tau_k(\text\textbf{x}),\;i=1,\ldots ,s,\;k=1,2,\dots, \] with \(\mathbf{x}_i\in {\mathbb{R}}^{n_i},\;A_{i},\;J_{ki},\;A_{ij},\;J_{kij}\) are constant matrices, for any fixed \(i\) and \(j\) the matrix \(S_{ij}(t)=s_{ij}(t)\text{diag}(1,\dots ,1)\) is the diagonal matrix of dimension \(n_i\), \(s_{ij}:[0,\infty)\mapsto[0,1]\) are the so-called structural parameters, and the sequence \(\{\tau_k(\mathbf{x})\}_{k=1,2,\ldots }\) is monotonically increasing to \(\infty\) for any fixed \(\mathbf{x}=[\text\textbf{x}_1,\ldots,\text\textbf{x}_s]\). The authors introduce the Lyapunov-type function \(V(\mathbf{x};\eta)=\eta ^TU(\text\textbf{x})\eta\) with \(U(\mathbf{x})=\{\text\textbf{x}_i^TB_{ij}\text\textbf{x}_j\}\), \(B_{ij}\) are constant matrices, \(B_{ii}\) being positive definite, and \(\eta\) is a vector with positive components. In terms of this function and its derivative along solutions to the system in question, conditions are formulated under which the system is asymptotically stable (unstable) for all admissible choice of structural parameters.
