Strong nonlinear mixing evolutions within phononic frequency combs

From MaRDI portal

The authors investigate strong nonlinear mixing phenomena within phononic frequency combs (PFCs) induced by a 1:2 internal resonance. They employ a combination of frequency-domain continuation methods and time integrations to explore the complex dynamics of PFCs comprehensively. The study reveals a wide range of nonlinear evolutions, including overlapping intervals between periodic and quasi-periodic branches, cyclic-fold bifurcations, torus-doubling routes to chaos, and coexistences of chaotic and periodic/quasi-periodic orbits. The research also highlights non-smooth variations in PFC morphology, such as comb spacing jumps. The work provides valuable insights for understanding and exploring PFC dynamics, offering guidance for related experimental studies.
