Subsonic aerodynamics
The model of perfect incompressible fluid allows to obtain, in some cases, an acceptable approximation to more exact results in subsonic aerodynamics. The present book is devoted to perfect incompressible fluid flows of low speed about complicated configurations such as airfoils, propellers, helicopter blades and other axial bodies. The main aim is to determine aerodynamic characteristics of these configurations. The author presents the thin profile theory, and the theory of lifting in two and three dimensions. A large part of the book is devoted to detailed exposition of the panel method for airfoil design. More than ninety excercises are included in the book, mostly with the laconic answers, but sometimes with detailed instructions. The book also contains a FORTRAN program for the computation of flow about airfoil by panel method. Thus, this book can be seen as a solid and reliable tool for modern aerospace scientists and engineers. It can also be used as a text and reference book for graduate courses on low-speed aerodynamics. NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEFrom the contents: Theoretical and applied methods in aerodynamics.
