TTF classes generated by silting modules

From MaRDI portal

Since every TTF class in \( R\text{-Mod} \) is of the form \(\mathrm{Gen}(R/I)\) for some idempotent two-sided ideal \(I\), and since \(R/I\) is always a finendo quasi-tilting module, a natural question arises: under what conditions is the left \(R\)-module \(R/I\) a silting module in \(R\text{-Mod}\)? The authors address this question by showing that, if \(I\) is an idempotent two-sided ideal of \(R\) which occurs as the trace of a projective left module, then \(R/I\) is silting. (The converse implication also holds under additional hypotheses.) As an application, they observe that if \(R\) is semiperfect and its Jacobson radical \(J\) is nonzero and idempotent, then \(R/J\) fails to be a silting module.
