The Orlicz Gaussian Minkowski problem for general measures
The Gaussian surface area measure \(S_{\gamma_{n,K}}\) of a convex body \(K\) in \({\mathbb R}^n\) is defined by \[ S_{\gamma_{n,K}}(\eta) = \frac{1}{\left(\sqrt{2\pi}\right)^n} \int_{\nu_K^{-1}(\eta)} e^{-\frac{|x|^2}{2}}\,\mathrm{d}{\mathcal H}^{n-1}(x)\] for Borel sets \(\eta\) in the unit sphere \({\mathbb S}^{n-1}\), where \({\mathcal H}^{n-1}\) is the \((n-1)\)-dimensional Hausdorff measure and \(\nu_K\) denotes the Gauss map of \(K\). This paper offers the following solutions to the Orlicz Gaussian Minkowski problem. Denote by \(h_K\) the support function of \(K\). Suppose that \(\varphi:(0,\infty)\to(0,\infty)\) is a continuous decreasing function satisfying \(\varphi(0^+)=\infty\) and \(\varphi(\infty)=0\). Let \(\mu\) be a finite Borel measure on \({\mathbb S}^{n-1}\) that is not concentrated on a closed hemisphere. Let \(0<\alpha<\frac{1}{n}\) and \(c_\alpha(L)=\gamma_n(L)^{\alpha-1}\) for convex bodies \(L\) (where \(\gamma_n\) is the Gaussian probability measure). Then there exists a convex body \(K\) containing the origin such that \(c_\alpha(K)\varphi(h_K) \mathrm{d}S_{\gamma_n,K}=\mathrm{d}\mu\). If \(\mu\) is discrete, then there exists a polytope \(P\) containing the origin in the interior such that \(c_\alpha(P)\varphi(h_P)\mathrm{d}S_{\gamma_n,P}= \mathrm{ d}\mu\). The second part is proved first, using a variational approach, and the first part is derived from it, using approximation. In this way, the evenness assumption, which is still present in the influential work of [\textit{Y. Huang} et al., Adv. Math. 385, Article ID 107769, 36 p. (2021; Zbl 1466.52010)], can be avoided.
