The coarse index class with support

From MaRDI portal

In this paper, the authors prove a coarse (in the sense of Roe) relative index theorem for a Dirac operator \(D\) invariant under a discrete group of isometries \(G\) acting properly on a complete Riemannian manifold \(M\). Then \(M\) is a \(G\)-bornological coarse space. To define the coarse relative index, the authors assume that there exists an invariant subset \(A\) which is a support, outside of which \(D\) is uniformly positive, and fix another open set \(Z\) which is very proper (Def. 8.2). If another such set of data \((M', D',A', Z')\) is given such that \(Z\) and \(Z'\) are \(G\)-isometric, and the Dirac operators are compatible with this isometry, then the coarse relative indices on \(M\) relative to \(A\), respectively on \(M'\) relative to \(A'\), coincide. The authors also prove the stability of the coarse relative index under suspension.
