The continuous subsolution problem for complex Hessian equations

From MaRDI portal

Let \(\Omega\) be a bounded strictly \(m\)-pseudoconvex domain in \(\mathbb C^n\), \(1\leq m\leq n\), \(\mu\) a positive Borel measure and \(g\) a continuous boundary data. The purpose of this paper is to study weak solutions \(U(\mu,g)\) to the complex Hessian equation\N\[\N\begin{aligned}&(dd^cU(\mu,g))^m\wedge(dd^c|z|^2)^{n-m}=\mu, \ \text{on} \ \Omega\\\N&U(\mu,g)=g, \ \text{on} \ \partial\Omega.\end{aligned}\N\]\NThe first goal of the paper is to give a sufficient condition on the modulus of diffusion of the measure \(\mu\) with respect to the \(m\)-Hessian capacity which guarantees the existence of a continuous solution to the associated Dirichlet problem with a continuous boundary data \(g\). Namely, let \(\mu\) be a positive finite Borel measure and \(A>0\) a constant such that for any compact set \(K\subset \Omega\) \N\[\N\mu(K)\leq Ac_m(K)\gamma(c_m(K))\N\]\Nwhere \(\gamma:[0,+\infty)\to [0,+\infty)\) is continuous increasing function which satisfies the Dini-type condition\N\[\N\int_{0^+}\frac {\gamma^{\frac 1m}(t)}{t}dt<+\infty.\N\]\NThen for an arbitrary continuous boundary data \(g\) the Dirichlet problem admits a unique continuous solution \(U(\mu,g)\).\N\NAs an application, it is proved that if the equation has a continuous \(m\)-subharmonic subsolution \(\varphi\), e.g.,\N\[\N\mu\leq (dd^c\varphi)^m\wedge(dd^c|z|^2)^{n-m}, \ \ \varphi|_{\partial \Omega}=0,\N\]\Nwhose modulus of continuity \(\kappa_{\varphi}\) satisfies a Dini-type condition\N\begin{itemize}\N\item[1.] in case \(m<n\)\N\[\N\int_{0^+}\frac {\kappa_{\varphi}^{\frac 1m}(t)}{t}dt<+\infty,\N\]\N\item[2.] and in case \(m=n\)\N\[\N\int_{0^+}\frac {\kappa_{\varphi}^{\frac 1m}(t)}{t|\log t|}dt<+\infty,\N\]\N\end{itemize}\Nthen the equation has a continuous solution \(U(\mu,g)\) with an arbitrary continuous boundary data \(g\). Moreover, when the measure \(\mu\) has finite mass on \(\Omega\), a precise quantitative estimate of the modulus of continuity of the solution \(U(\mu,g)\) is given. One of the main steps in the proof is to establish a new capacity estimate providing a precise estimate of the modulus of diffusion of the \(m\)-Hessian measure \(\mu\leq (dd^c\varphi)^m\wedge(dd^c|z|^2)^{n-m}\) of a continuous \(m\)-subharmonic function \(\varphi\) in \(\Omega\) with zero boundary with respect to the \(m\)-Hessian capacity \(c_m\) in terms of the modulus of continuity of \(\varphi\). Another very important ingredient is a new weak stability estimate for the \(m\)-Hessian measure of a continuous \(m\)-subharmonic function in \(\Omega\).
