The design of experiments.
Inhalt: I. Introduction: Evidence; mathematical attitude towards induction; rejection of inverse probability; logic of the laboratory. II. The principles of experimentation, illustrated by a psychophysical experiment: test of significance; null hypothesis (hypothesis of non existence of the effect in question); randomisation. III. A historical experiment on growth rate; Darwin's discussion and Galtons interpretation. IV. An agricultural experiment in randomised blocks. V. The latin square. VI. The factorial design in experimentation. VII. Confounding; The problem of controlling heterogeneity. VIII. Special cases of partial confounding. IX. The increase of precision by concomitant measurements. Statistical control. X. The Generalization of null hypotheses. Fiducial probability; multiplicity of tests; \(t\) test; \(\chi^2\) test. XI. The measurement of amount of information in general. Index.
