Topological entropy of two-parameters systems

From MaRDI portal

This paper investigates the topological parameter entropy of two-parameter dynamical systems, recently introduced by Tsukamoto [39]. For a compact metrizable space equipped with two commuting continuous maps, the author develops several equivalent formulations of this entropy using separated sets, spanning sets, and open covers. The author establishes fundamental dynamical properties, including invariance under topological conjugacy, a power rule, product inequalities, and metric independence. The author then examines the relationship between topological parameter entropy, classical topological entropy, and Cheng's extended topological entropy, showing that these notions can exhibit substantially different behavior. In particular, the author demonstrates that the topological parameter entropy is bounded above by the minimum of the classical entropies of the two maps. Finally, the author introduces a measure-theoretic parameter entropy associated with common invariant measures and establishes a variational inequality connecting it with topological parameter entropy. Several examples illustrate the distinctions among these entropy notions and demonstrate the potential usefulness of topological parameter entropy for studying dynamical systems with zero or infinite classical topological entropy.
