Toric splittings
From MaRDI portal
The toric ideal of a matrix \(A\), \(I_A\), is said to be \textit{splittable} if there exist two matrices \(A_1\) and \(A_2\) such that \(I_A = I_{A_1} + I_{A_2}\) with both \(I_{A_1}\) and \(I_{A_2}\) distinct from \(I_A\).\N\NTheorem 2.1 provides a necessary and sufficient condition for the toric ideal of \(A\) to be splittable. Several interesting applications to specific matrices or ideals are presented, along with numerous examples.
