Transfer and Chern classes for extraspecial p-groups
From MaRDI portal
Abstract: In the cohomology ring of an extraspecial p-group, the subring generated by Chern classes and transfers is studied. This subring is strictly larger than the Chern subring, but still not the whole cohomology ring, even modulo nilradical. A formula is obtained relating Chern classes to transfers.
For an extraspecial \(p\)-group, the authors study its cohomology ring by means of a subring generated by Chern classes and transfers [cf. the second author, J. Pure Appl. Algebra 104, No. 1, 89-95 (1995; Zbl 0839.20067)]. It is shown that this subring is not the whole mod-\(p\) cohomology ring, even modulo the nilradical. Moreover, a formula is obtained relating the Chern classes and transfers. For the entire collection see [Zbl 0882.00036].
