Transverse parabolic structures and transverse BGG sequences
The author builds appropriate Bernstein-Gelfand-Gelfand sequences of operators for foliated parabolic geometries in the sense of Cartan, in the transverse direction. Using the osculating groupoid of the associated filtration, he finds the nilpotent group whose irreducible unitary representations make sense of the Rockland condition in the associated filtered pseudodifferential calculus. This condition is well known to replace ellipticity in this filtered. The principal result of the paper is that the differential of these transversal BGG sequences satisfies the Rockland condition. Moreover, when the BGG sequence is a complex, the author shows that the natural map from the de Rham complex is an isomorphism in cohomology.
