Triangular biorthogonal wavelets with extended lifting

From MaRDI portal

The classical two dimensional wavelets lack the directional property. To overcome that shortcoming, curvelets and shearlets are usually introduced. This paper provides another method for constructing a family of triangular biorthogonal wavelets by adding a new operation called ``twist. It turns out that several nice properties are inherited. The authors apply their wavelets to the extraction of some image edges as well.
