Visualization techniques for cellular dynamata
The author considers cellular dynamata which are generalizations of the cellular automata proposed earlier by Ulam and von Neumann. The cellular dynamaton (or the cellular dynamical system) is a complex dynamical system in which the nodes are identical copies of a single dynamical scheme, the standard cell, that are arranged in a regular spatial lattice. Examples of this construction are the heart and brain models by Zeeman. The author describes some methods for creating visual displays of qualitative features of cellular dynamata in one and two dimensions. For the entire collection see [Zbl 0974.00042].
