XploRe. The interactive statistical computing environment. Incl. 1 CD-ROM
XploRe is an interactive statistical environment, a versatile tool for data analysis. XploRe combines classical techniques with high end statistical procedures and is the ideal solution for data exploration. The user-friendly graphics provide an effective basis for large-scale statistical analysis, computer intensive research and interactive knowledge discovery. The open architecture and the Auto Pilot Support System (APSS) guarantees smooth integration of future methods and updated data analysis techniques. The present Learning Guide is an undergraduate textbook mainly for students of economics, which contains an introduction to statistics with computer-aided statistical analysis. Any file which consists of XploRe is called a Quantlet. Homogeneous Quantlets are combined into Quantlibs: e.g. STATS for basic statistical modeling; GLM, generalized linear models; SMOOTHER for smoothing methods; FINANCE for option pricing stock simulation and nonlinear time series analysis; modern regression technique with wavelets and neural networds; VaR (value at risk) estimation with extreme values and historical simulation; TWARE for interactive teaching of Statistics. There exist two versions of XploRe: a professional one, and the present somewhat shortened academic edition (maximal 1000 observations). An intensive study of the given examples and hints will enable the user to construct his own libraries.
