Existence and multiplicity of positive solutions for nonlinear boundary value problems driven by the scalar \(p\)-Laplacian (English)
As a complement to the results obtained by \textit{C. De Coster} [Nonlinear Anal. Theory Methods Appl. 23, 669--681 (1994; Zbl 0813.34021)], the existence of at least one strictly positive solution under nonuniform nonresonance conditions together with two theorems on multiplicity of positive solutions are established for the case of nonlinear Dirichlet problems with a locally Lipschitz potential. The proof is based on the nonsmooth critical point theory for the potential and combining the variational technique with the method of upper and lower solutions.

    locally Lipschitz function
    generalized (Clarke) subdifferential
    nonsmooth critical point theory
