    Das Problem der Erweiterung singulärer Raum-Zeiten wird mit Hilfe der Differentialräume gelöst. Dabei beschränken sich die Autoren auf den Fall, daß auf der Raum-Zeit \(M\) eine (pos. definite) Metrik \(d: M\times M \to \mathbb{R}\) existiert, die mit der gegebenen Topologie verträglich ist. Bezüglich dieser Metrik wird die Cauchy- Vervollständigung \(\overline{M}\) von \(M\) betrachtet. Die Differentialraum-Struktur auf \(\overline{M}\) ist nicht eindeutig bestimmt. Das Verfahren wird an den Beispielen des kosmischen Strings und eines geschlossenen Friedmann-Universums erläutert.
