This is a very clearly written expository article dedicated to Bjarni Jónsson on the occasion of his 70th birthday [cf. also the paper reviewed above]. From the introduction: ``In this article, I have chosen three of Jónsson's problems which have had a particularly strong influence on the development of lattice theory.'' These three problems concern (a) free modular lattices, (b) free lattices, and (c) lattices of permuting equivalence relations and Arguesian lattices. The author of the article formulates also some new open problems. References contain 58 items.
