The authors offer the measurable solutions of the functional equation \[ q(x,y) q(y,z) = q(x,z) (r(x,y) - r(y,z)) + p(x,z). \] It turns out that they depend only upon the differences of their variables (and are thus related to integrable many-body problems, cf. \textit{F. Caligero}, Lett. Nuovo Cimento 13, 411-416 (1975)) and are composed of the Weierstrass sigma and zeta functions. While supposing measurability instead of differentiability when solving functional equations is not so new (see e.g. \textit{A. Járai}, Aequationes Math. 30, 21-54 (1986; Zbl 0589.39012)] as the authors seem to think, the application of algebraic geometry and in particular of the inverse spectral method is certainly interesting.
