The author considers the analogue of the theta function of a lattice when the Euclidean norm is replaced by the \(L_1\) norm; this is then called the nu function. For lattices obtained by one of Constructions A or B from binary codes, he expresses the nu function in terms of the Hamming weight enumerator. Finally the connection with enumerative combinatorics is pointed out.
