The question whether or not a partially ordered set \(P\) has the fixed-point property (fpp) can often be transferred (and so generally simplified) to the same question concerning some subset of \(P\). For example, it is well known that if \(P\) has the fpp then every retract of \(P\) has the fpp. The author and \textit{E. C. Milner} [Order 9, 321-331 (1992; Zbl 0782.06001)] have shown that if \(P\) is chain-complete (cc) then \(P\) has the fpp if and only if any good subset (a special kind of a retract) of \(P\) has this property. But for a ramified finite poset \(P\) the core of \(P\) is just \(P\) itself. Hence the paper under review is devoted to another construction using some quasiorder on \(P\) called the ANTI-order. The author constructs ANTI-perfect sequences and the ANTI-core of \(P\), the properties of which can be useful for the question about the fpp of \(P\). The main result concerning chain-complete and conditionally antichain-complete posets (caccc) is proved in Part II [ibid. 158, 185-199 (1996)], reviewed below.
