    Both Cauchy matrices and Vandermonde matrices are well-known. In the present paper, these matrices are generalized considerably, but the formulas are a bit too complicated to present in a review. These various generalizations are viewed as the matrices of transformations between two interpolation bases on the space of polynomials of degree less than \(n\). Their (nonzero) determinants are determined, and in certain cases explicit formulas are given for inverses and/or matrix factorizations. Hankel and Loewner matrices are also studied in this context.
