The authors propose two numerical integration techniques that are modified trapezoidal and modified Romberg rules. They present also results of some numerical experiments for evaluating the line integral of a vector field over an implicitly defined curve. The proof of an asymptotic error expansion for the modified trapezoidal rule as a modification of that of \textit{P. Verlinden} and \textit{R. Cools} [Math. Comput. 63, No. 208, 717-725 (1994; Zbl 0811.65020)] is given.
