The paper is a generalization of the foregoing title by the same author [ibid. 88, No. 2-3, 199-224 (1997; reviewed above)] to multidimensional problems. For this, approximate factorization as well as operator-splitting techniques are employed. The author presents four linear methods for solving the equation \[ u_t- \Delta u=f(u) \] numerically. Discretization is done both in space and time or only in space or time. The paper closes with some numerical tests.
