A group \(G\) is self-small if \(\text{Hom}(G,\bigoplus_{i\in I}G_i)\cong\bigoplus_{i\in I}\text{Hom}(G,G_i)\) for any indexed set of groups \(\{G_i:i\in I\}\) with each \(G_i\cong G\). The class \(\mathcal G\) consists of self-small mixed groups \(G\) such that \(G/T(G)\) is finite rank divisible. The class \(\Sigma{\mathcal G}\) is the class of all the direct sums of groups \(\bigoplus G_i\), where each \(G_i\) is a reduced group in \(\mathcal G\). \(G\sim H\) indicates that two groups \(G,H\in{\mathcal G}\) are quasi-isomorphic. Theorem 4. Let \(\bigoplus_{i\in I}G_i=\bigoplus_{j\in J}H_j\) be a group in \(\Sigma{\mathcal G}\) written in two ways as a direct sum of finite cyclic groups and essentially indecomposable mixed groups, and let \(A\) be an essentially indecomposable mixed group in \(\mathcal G\). Then the cardinalities of the sets \(\{G_i:G_i\sim A\}\) and \(\{H_j:H_j\sim A\}\) are equal. If \(\sigma_A(G)\) denotes this cardinality then one of the main results shows that the cardinal numbers \(\sigma_A(G)\) for all the essentially indecomposable mixed groups \(A\) in \(\mathcal G\), together with the Ulm invariants, are a complete set of invariants for groups \(G\) in \(\Sigma{\mathcal G}\). Further, mixed completely decomposable groups (direct sums of reduced mixed groups in \(\mathcal G\) of torsion-free rank one), are considered in \(\Sigma{\mathcal G}\). We record for instance the following characterization: Theorem 13. For a mixed group \(G\) in \(\Sigma{\mathcal G}\), \(G\) is completely decomposable if and only if \(G\) is simply presented, or, if and only if \(G\) has a decomposition basis. An investigation of the fine structure of completely decomposable groups in \(\Sigma{\mathcal G}\) is given. Mixed group analogues of classical results concerning homogeneous torsion-free groups are also proved.
