    \({\mathcal M}\) est une algèbre semi-finie de von Neumann sur un espace de Hilbert séparable, et \(L_p({\mathcal M},\tau)\) un \(L_p\)-espace associé à \(({\mathcal M},\tau)\), où \(\tau\) est une trace semi-finie pour la norme et fiable. Soient \(x\) et \(y\) deux opérateurs auto-adjoints affiliés avec \({\mathcal M}\) et vérifiant \(x= y+ a\) pour un élément \(a\) de \({\mathcal M}\); on pose \(z= (1+ x^2)^{-1/2}\in L_p({\mathcal M},\tau)\) pour un nombre \(p\) strictement positif convenablement choisi. Le résultat principal montre que \((|x|-|y|)\) et \({y\over (1+ y^2)^{1/2}}- {x\over (1+ x^2)^{1/2}}\) appartiennent à \(L_p({\mathcal M},\tau)\); on en déduit d'importantes inégalités de type Lipschitz. Ces propriétés, dont la démonstration difficile est longuement détaillée, conduisent à de nombreuses conséquences importantes, en particulier dans le domaine du calcul quantifié en géométrie non-commutative ou dans l'étude des modules de Breuer-Fredholm (sans restriction sur la parité de l'indices).
