Let \(V\) be a connected complex manifold with a basepoint \(t_0\) and \(E\) be a subset of the Riemann sphere \(\overline{{\mathbb C}}.\) A holomorphic motion of \(E\) over \(V\) is a map with three properties: (a) \(\phi (t_0,z)=z\) for all \(z\) in \(E,\) (b) the map \(\phi (t,.):E\rightarrow \overline{{\mathbb C}}\) is injective for each \(t\) in \(V,\) (c) the map \(\phi (.,t):V\rightarrow \overline{{\mathbb C}}\) is holomorphic for each \(z\) in \(E.\) Here \(V\) is the parameter space of the holomorphic motion \(\phi .\) In this paper \(E\) is a closed subset of \(\overline{{\mathbb C}}\) and \(0,1,\infty \in E.\) Let \(T(E)\) be the Teichmüller space of the closed set \(E.\) G. Lieb has defined a holomorphic motion \(\Psi _E:T(E)\times E\rightarrow \overline{{\mathbb C.}}\) Theorem A. Let \(\phi :V\times E\rightarrow \overline{{\mathbb C}}\) be a holomorphic motion, where \(V\) is a simply connected complex Banach manifold with basepoint and \(E\) is any closed subset of \(\overline{{\mathbb C}}.\) Then there exists a unique basepoint preserving holomorphic map \(F:V\rightarrow T(E)\) such that \(F^*(\Psi_E)=\emptyset.\) Theorem B. (Harmonic \(\lambda\)-lemma). Let \(\phi:V\times E\rightarrow \overline{{\mathbb C}}\) be a holomorphic motion, where \(V\) is a simply connected complex Banach manifold with basepoint \(x_0\) and \(E\) is any closed subset of \(\overline{{\mathbb C}}.\) There is a unique holomorphic motion of the whole Riemann sphere \(\widehat {\phi}: U\times\overline{{\mathbb C}} \rightarrow\overline{{\mathbb C}},\) where \(U={x\in V:\rho_V(x,x_0)<r},\) such that \(\widehat {\phi}(x,z)=\phi(x,z)\) for all \((x,z)\in U \times E\) and the Beltrami coefficient of the map \(z \mapsto \widehat {\phi}(x,z)\) is harmonic on each component of \(\overline{{\mathbb C}}E\) for each \(x\in U.\) Theorem C. Let \(\phi\) be a holomorphic motion of \(E\) over a connected complex Banach manifold \(V.\) If \(\widetilde{\phi}\) and \(\widetilde{\psi}\) are two quasiconformal trivializations of \(\phi,\) then \(\widetilde{\phi}(x,.)\) and \(\widetilde{\psi}(x,.)\) are isotopic to \(\text{rel } E\) for every \(x\in V.\) Furthermore, if \(V\) is simply connected, then \(\phi\) has a quasiconformal trivialization.
