    This paper is concerned with the oscillation of second-order nonlinear matrix differential systems of the form \[ [r(t)P(t)X'(t)]'+p(t)P(t)X'(t)+Q(t)F(X'(t))G(X(t))=0, ~~ t \geq t_0, \eqno{(*)} \] where \(t_0\geq 0\) and \(r, p, P, Q, F\) and \(G\) satisfy the following conditions: (A1)~ \(r\in C^1([t_0, \infty), (0, \infty))\), \(p\in C([t_0, \infty), \mathbb{R})\); (A2)~ \(P(t)>0, Q(t)\geq 0\) for \(t \geq t_0\); (A3)~ \(F, G\in C^1(\mathbb{R}^{n^2}, \mathbb{R}^{n^2}), G(X)>0\) and \(F(X)\geq 0\) for all real \(n\times n\)-matrices \(X\neq 0\). In this paper, a matrix function solution \(X\in C^2([t_0, \infty), \mathbb{R}^{n^2})\) of \((*)\) is called prepared nontrivial if det\(\,X(t)\neq 0\) for at least one \(t\in [t_0, \infty)\) and \(X(t)\) satisfies the equation \[ (G^{-1}(X(t)))^*(P(t)X'(t))^*G(X(t))=P(t)X'(t), \quad t\geq t_0,\eqno{(**)} \] where \(M^*\) denotes the transpose of a matrix \(M\). However, one can see that condition (A3) and the prepared assumption \((**)\) for equation \((*)\) are quite difficult to be satisfied and can not even apply to the two examples included in this paper and second-order linear matrix differential system of the form \[ [P(t)X']'+Q(t)X=0, \] because \(G(X)=X\) or \(X+X^3\) in \((*)\) does not satisfy (A3) and \((**)\).
