    The authors present a new abstract infinite-dimensional linking theorem without (PS)-type assumptions. The abstract result is used to study the existence of nontrivial solutions to the elliptic system \[ \begin{aligned} \Delta u=u \quad\text{in }\Omega, &\qquad \frac {\partial u}{\partial n}= H_v(x,u,v) \quad\text{on }\partial\Omega,\\ \Delta v=v \quad\text{in }\Omega, &\qquad \frac {\partial v}{\partial n}= H_u(x,u,v) \quad\text{on }\partial\Omega, \end{aligned} \tag{1} \] where \(\Omega\) is a bounded domain in \(\mathbb R^N\) with smooth boundary, \(\frac {\partial}{\partial n}\) is the outer normal derivative. As a second application the authors study the system with one parameter \[ {\mathcal A}v=-f(x,v,w), \qquad \beta w= bg(x,u,w), \tag{2} \] where \({\mathcal A}\geq a_0>0\), \(\beta\geq b_0>0\) are self-adjoint operators on \(L^2(\Omega)\), \(\Omega\subset \mathbb R^N\) is not necessarily bounded, \(f(x,s,t)\), \(g(x,s,t)\) are Carathéodory functions on \(\Omega\times \mathbb R^2\). The authors prove the existence of infinitely many solutions. Both systems are strongly indefinite.
