The paper under review provides a thorough overview of the linearization of Poisson brackets, ranging from the origins of the problem to the most recent developments. The paper is certainly useful to everyone interested in this circle of ideas. The topics discussed include linearization of Lie algebra actions, linearization of Poisson brackets (formal, analytic and smooth linearization, respectively), Levi decomposition for Poisson brackets, and eventually linearization and Levi decomposition of Lie algebroids. It is noteworthy that the authors strove to compare the classical analytic approach to linearization and the (more recent) geometric approach.
