A 1-system of the elliptic quadric \(Q^-(7,q)\) is a set \(L\) of \(q^4+1\) totally isotropic lines with the further property that any plane in \(Q^-(7,q)\) which contains an element \(l\in L\) is disjoint from all the lines in \(L\setminus\{l\}\). For both \(q\) even and odd there is a known 1-system of \(Q^-(7,q)\), the so called classical 1-system. It has been previously proved that for \(q\) odd, this is the only possibility. The authors show that also for \(q\) even the only existing 1-system of \(Q^-(7,q)\) is the classical one.
