This article is part of a series (including also part I, [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 358, No. 6, 2537-2560 (2006; Zbl 1100.16012)], part III, (to appear), and articles by the first named author, for instance [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 134, No. 6, 1605-1613 (2006; Zbl 1122.16012)]) in which the authors extend the theory of stable equivalences of Morita type from self-injective algebras to finite dimensional algebras in general. One of the main results in the article under review states that a stable equivalence of Morita type between two algebras of finite representation type can be extended to a stable equivalence between their respective Auslander algebras. Moreover, it is shown that positive degree Hochschild homology is invariant under stable equivalences of Morita type, thus complementing a result by \textit{Z. Pogorzały} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 131, No. 2, 343-349 (2003; Zbl 1062.16003)], which is also given a new proof here.
