The authors describe the irreducible integrable representations V of a twisted affine Lie algebra \(L_{\sigma}({\mathfrak g})\), which have finite dimensional weight spaces. In case the center of \(L_{\sigma}({\mathfrak g})\) acts non-trivially then V is a highest weight module or a dual of one and the proof is the same as in the non-twisted case [see the first author, Invent. Math. 85, 317-335 (1986; Zbl 0603.17011)]. When the center acts trivially, they had constructed [Math. Ann. 275, 87- 104 (1986; Zbl 0603.17012)] a family of completely reducible L(\({\mathfrak g})\)-modules such that any irreducible integrable L(\({\mathfrak g})\)-module with finite dimensional weight spaces occurs as a component of one of the family. Now they prove that the same holds for \(L_{\sigma}({\mathfrak g})\)- modules, i.e., the same L(\({\mathfrak g})\)-modules are completely reducible as \(L_{\sigma}({\mathfrak g})\)-modules and any irreducible integrable \(L_{\sigma}({\mathfrak g})\)-module with finite dimensional weight spaces occurs as a component of a member of the family. Finally they consider the question of unitarizability of the \(L_{\sigma}({\mathfrak g})\)-modules, obtaining a similar result as in the non-twisted case.
