    Let \(F \to X\) be a Hermitian holomorphic vector bundle over a complex manifold \(X\) and \(f \in {\mathcal O}(X,F)\) a global holomorphic section in \(F\). In previous work [Bull. Sci. Math. 128, 481--512 (2004; Zbl 1086.32005)] the author introduced the residue current \(R^f\) as a section in \(\bigoplus_\ell {\mathcal D}^\prime_{0,\ell}(X , \Lambda^\ell F^* ) \subset {\mathcal D}^\prime (X, \Lambda (T^* (X) \oplus F^* ))\) with supported in \(Z = \{ z \in X : f(z) = 0 \}\). Let \(D\) be the Chern connection in \(F\) and \(p = \operatorname{codim} Z\). The main result in the paper under review is the factorization formula \(\frac{1}{p!} R^f_p \cdot (Df/2\pi i)^p = \sum_j \alpha_j [Z^p_j ]\) where \(Z^p_j\) are the irreducible components of codimension \(p\) of \(Z\) and \(\alpha_j\) are their multiplicities. This is imitative (yet more general than that) of a factorization formula due to \textit{J.-P. Demailly} and \textit{M. Passare} [Bull. Sci. Math. 119, 85--94 (1995; Zbl 0851.32013)] holding when \(Z\) is locally a complete intersection yet not necessarily the zero set of a holomorphic section.
