Tau functions of \(q\)-Painlevé III and IV equations (Q2433132): Difference between revisions

\textit{H. Sakai} [Commun. Math. Phys. 220, 165--229 (2001; Zbl 1010.34083)], has shown how to describe (differential) Painlevé equations PIII and PIV as discrete dynamical systems on a rational surface with affine Weyl group symmetry of type \((A_{2} + A_{1})^{(1)}\). In the present paper, the author gives a similar description of \(q\)-difference Painlevé equations \(q\)-PIII and \(q\)-PIV, along with an algebro-geometric approach to their \(\tau\)-functions. The paper also contains a derivation of \(q\)-PIII from the \(q\)-KP hierarchy, in the same spirit as what had been done for \(q\)-PIV by \textit{K. Kajiwara, M. Noumi} and \textit{Y. Yamada} [Lett. Math. Phys. 62, 259--268 (2002; Zbl 1030.37045)].
